Has anyone painted a refrigerator, and do you have pics to share of the before and after? I have searched for pics online but I cannot find any of other projects of painted refrigerators, I was hoping to have inspiration for when I repaint ours.

Yes, you can paint your fridge. I painted my almond fridge black about 3 years ago and it still looks great. Like another answerer has already mentioned, clean the surface very thoroughly with TSP and then lightly sand. Carefully tape off anything you don't want to paint and then spray, using appliance paint or if the surface is textured, you will get a good result using a foam roller as well. Let each coat dry thoroughly, and you will need 2 or 3 coats minimum.

Don't do it. The paint on refrigerators are a special process called phosphating, powder coat and baked on enamel. It is really not paint. At the factory they coat the powder and put it in huge oven at high temperature where the powder melts and attaches to the metal.

If you do paint - Your finished job will be patchy. It will form little irregular circles as they dry. This is because the wet paint slides over the enamel and they congeal. It will look terrible.

I repainted my mothers avacado green refrigerator over 5 years ago. It came out great. I sprayed it with appliance paint available at the hardware store. Her's had I slight texture to the finish which helps to hide imperfections. A smooth finish may not turn out as good. Make sure you clean it real good with TSP as this will help the paint adhere.

My husband sold a few artistic painted refridgerator doors.

Spray paint sticks well, but freezes. (Leaves bumps where the newest paint hits drier paint) I painted ours black, and it looked better. It just didn't have that super nice finish.
Auto paint shops can make it really smooth if you are willing to pay a little.

Have fun and good luck!

It is completely up to you. If you think that you can do it and do it right, then do it. It really isn't that hard. Like one of them said earlier, spray it with an appliance paint. They sell them at your local hardware stores. Use 2-3 coats, letting dry no less than 4-6 hours in between coats.
