Yes, it would.
In answer to your first question: we never know. All we can do is the best we can, by examining our conscience. Certainly we should be open to perennial wisdom, but neither the Bible nor any other religious text is *unalloyed* wisdom, so our conscience always has to have the last word.

Actually there is plenty of evidence that the Bible is God's word ... a guidebook for us to live by. That includes scientific evidence.
At a time when the world believed the earth was flat, the bible writer Isaiah at Isaiah 40:22 spoke of the "one who is dwelling above the circle of the earth." Also at a time when that flat earth was believed to be held up by Atlas who was standing on a turtle that was standing on an elephant (or something like that) the same prophet spoke of the earth hanging upon NOTHING. How would you explain Isaiah being able to say this in an age when space exploration was unheard of?
In addition, the rules of hygiene set forth in the Mosaic law are hailed down to this day.
Yes men wrote the bible, but they were used as secretaries which is why The Apostle Peter could say that "phrophecy was at no time brought by man's will, but men spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit (2 Pet. 2:21).

Christians believe that God used the people who wrote the Bible to spread his word.
It's about 'faith' not 'proof'. If it was that easy, the whole world would be believers. Paradoxically, it is hard to believe - but once you have prayed and opened your heart to God, believing is easy and you wonder how you ever existed without it. Reading some books on the Bible and Christ would help. Philip Yancey is a great author with lots of books to help people understand Christianity better. You have to search, pray, search, study, pray some more....hope you take the time to do so!

You can only know what God wants for you once you know HIm. The way to do that is to read His Word. His Word is true...he created us to worship him. We are his creation and we are to bring glory to Him and Him alone. His word was written by humans, but it was inspired by the Holy Spirit, a part of God.
God will never make anyone do anything..we were created with a "free moral will" and He desires us to love Him and live as He guides us to live. He gives us clear direction...and all through His Word there is direction, comfort and instruction for us all. If you read the Bible and ask Him to help you understand it, He will. Start with the book of St. John...and learn about who He is and who we are. Once you begin reading and learning who God is and what His character is, then you can understand what we should be. We were created in His image. But.....sin has separated us from Him and that is why He send his only Son to die for us. It is because Jesus died and took all our sins to the cross with Him, that we can be "saved". And if we accept what Jesus did at calvary, individually, then our name is written in the Book of LIfe in heaven and on Judgement Day, when all mankind will be judged, we will stand "forgiven" and may spend eternity with God. It is the best deal you will ever get..don't trun it down! It beats the alternative!!!

What is your proof that the Bible was written by man? Do you have any? I say that you have not. I agree that the Bible was written by man, inspired by God, but I just want non-believers to realize that you have no proof since you do not believe the Bible.

The Bible has impacted several cultures that have wanted to wipe out its existance. It still stands. I'd say that's God's doing. God is pretty accurate when it comes to what He wants. A world that will come to know Him as Lord seems to be first on His mind. As to what our function is in that plan individually, I'd say ask Him. He speaks to those who are His. Those who walk with Him have no problem hearing Him if they come clean before Him. If you have doubts whether you are His or not, ask Jesus into your heart. Jesus said,"no one comes to the father but by me." His words have lasted at least as long as the Bible has. I'd say He has a good track record.

the bible is Gods word manifested to men, 2 Timothy 3:15-17..I wouldn't however stop with just reading the Bible seeing how it has changed through translations. Study Hebrew also to get a better understanding, b/c Hebrew I believe is the original form

Yes. The Bible should only be taking on its own merits. It is sacred only because it is the first writing that took unconditional love and love of God as its foundation.
Those who say that the Bible is literal truth are just scared, confused people who haven't found God yet. That's why they get angry at sinners: They don't trust that all will have his due!
The holy spirit is wordless, without concept, and very very big.

When someone says "I think" is not taking seriously, most likely what he is saying is a mental concoction. The Scriptures that are handed down to us were written by men, but inspired by God.
Like a loving father with his son, who wants the best for him, in the same way God wants the best for us, however he gives us freewill to decide. Ultimately our decision is to love Him or to forget Him, it is up to us. If we decide to love Him sincerely, He gives us all the facilities to do so. Same applies if we want to forget Him. If we have a sincere desire to know and love Him He sends us His representative or guru. So, God gives us guru and guru gives us God.
