I've found that it's cheapest to book directly through the airline's website. I usually use expedia.com or one of the other sites to see which airline has the cheapest flights, then I go to that airline and pick the exact same flights and it's almost always the exact same price (except that when you book online, the airlines don't charge a "booking fee" of $5 or more that those sites all charge). Also, the "low-fare" airlines like AirTran or Southwest Airlines only have their fares online through their own websites, so check there as well. Although they're not always the cheapest.

Since you obviously have a computer, the best way would be to go on line and find out for yourself. Try Priceline.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, cheapflights.com, and let them find the prices for you on various airline carriers. This gives you the opportunity to select various airports in your area or the area you are going to also, to see the price differences for flight from or to various locations. I would also google low price airfares and see what other options come up.
