You are supposed to wait to marriage.

I wasn't going to answer this until I saw some of the answers already here.

First of all, Jesus doesn't speak out against it. If you want to find the only arguments against premarital sex then you will have to look to Paul's letters which contain instructions to specific churches in Paul's own opinions. He often talks about what is best for those people to do, not what is religious doctrine.

Aside from that, it was common practice in Jewish society to live together for 1 year before the marriage ceremony. Whether or not those relationships were consummated or not is unknown, but you can guess. Especially since during those days Roman society and occupation was much more lenient on such issues.

My own conclusion, though, is very similar to JOHN's answer above. It really is best for a woman to be in a very committed relationship before taking that next step. At the same time don't let religious doctrine control who you are, your life will be miserable for it and I'm speaking from experience.

I had a girlfriend once that wanted to stop having sex until we were married (mostly due to Christian beliefs). So since I had more spare time I researched your question in great detail. It really comes down to translation, and the defenition of sexual immorality. There are arguements for both sides, and both have equal points. But when it came down to it there was no defenitive answer except this. Jesus forgives all sins, so it is allowed, but most likely a sin. But on that theory murder is allowed, you just have to ask for forgiveness, which is something I'm not fond of in the Christian religion.

Hope this confuses you more, but do some research on the greek word pornea (or: porniea) that seems to be the main debate.

Nope. But alot do it anyway because they think that they'll be forgiven no matter what they do.
James 4:17 "Therefore, if one knows how to do what is right and yet does not do it, it is a sin for him."
So they are just adding another sin on top of that every time.

If you take the whole Bible literally and believe that every single word in there should be applied to our lives today, then no, it isn't allowed. Of course, if you're living life that way, you also believe that people should be executed for violating the Sabbath.

Yes. According to the Bible, premarital sex is allowed.

In Exodus, chapter 20, we read the Ten Commandments, and are told that we should not commit adultery. Adultery however is not defined as simply having sex outside of marriage. It's defined as having sex with a married person. Nothing is said to prohibit sexual relations between two unmarried people. In fact, if we look in the book of Leviticus, we are given a list of every situation in which we should not have sex. We're not to have sex with married people, or with family members, or with animals. We are not, however, prohibited from having sex with an unmarried person who is not in our family.

Some places in the bible, such as Mark 7:21, state that "fornication" is a sin. Christians like to interpret that as meaning "sex outside of marriage." It's not true. The Greek translation identifies "fornication" as being any "illicit (illegal) sexual activity." However, as we saw above, God did not mention sex between two unmarried people as being illicit.

no, but you aren't going to get stoned or anything.
IMO It is very wise to wait until there's a committed relationship. However, these days marriage doesnt mean as much anymore.

No, it is not. But it is something that God can forgive as long as one doesn't go back and continue giving in to that desirous lust of the flesh.
