I am with the school wholeheartedly on this Lets get it right. The girl was not stopped from wearing a crucifix at school She was stopped from wearing jewellery. Most schools do not let their pupils wear jewellery. It causes all sorts of problems ---jealousy, bullying, theft. If it gets lost there's all sorts of fuss. This has been the way for 60yrs that I know of.If she wishes to wear an emblem of her faith , the school is allowing her to wear a lapel badge as this is less obtrusive. Not very exciting when looked at like this is it!Doesn't sell papers or provide hysterical news coverage,or get your picture on T.V.Children must abide by school rules,as a first step to a more ordered and disciplined society.

I think its disgraceful, and STUPID!
I am not a religious person in any sense of the word, but i do believe people have the right to express their beliefs as they see fit, so long as it is inoffensive to others.
Too much is being made of religion in todays age, have we learnt nothing from history.....just about every war/conflict the world has ever seen, has arisen from religion.
Personnally i think religion is the evil cause of most of our problems to date.
They are the some of the richest organisations in the world, and yet they always want more, and do nothing for it, or more importantly " do nothing with it", it just goes in their stockpile.
Makes me really angry this subject.
Other religions live here and they are the first to start shouting about unfair this and unfair that, but then are the first to get defensive when the spotlight hits them.
Do as I say, not as I do?
My god's better than your god kind'a'thing!
Get rid of religion....the world will be a better place.

Arrogant political nonsense, is what i call it !!!

However if jewelry, is not allowed to be worn at school,
at all ( including piercing objects )
then the wearing of a cross etc could be justified as ,
going against school regulations .( Jewelry)

I do not see how the discrete, wearing of a small cross or star of David, on a chain around ones neck , could cause a problem .

What ever happened to common sense .

When i went to school were not allowed to wear any other jewelry to school except for a signet ring and studs in the hears. I personally dont think it necessary to wear any jewelry to school. But if they are allowed to do so then i think it is her right as a Christian to wear a cross. I wear a cross but i am not a Christian, i just fancy the way the cross looks. This cross story is getting way overboard and it is just a case of power-struggle now. People being bossy and taking their positions too seriously. :))

This girl and her parents are trying it on, the same as the muslim women who insist in wearing veils etc, if a school says no jewellery it means just that, no exceptions. That was the rule at my school many years ago. The girl is a brat.
