Um, JJ, there were no churches per se. That word comes from the Old English word cirice, but there was a jewish temple in Jerusalem at the time, which was destroyed in 70 CE (AD)
The temple was the place of worship for the jewish people, and there was only one.. not like churches today which are on every corner.
The Saducees and Pharisees were the jewish scribes and teachers of the time.
I hope that helps.

Perhaps if you were to spell the names correctly, you would have better luck: Sadducees and Pharicees.

You might also want to examine the meanings of the word "Church" and see if Sadducees and Pharisees meet those definitions.

When we say 'church' we mean Christian church - and while Christ was still alive, of course there were none. Jesus was a Jew so he, his family and friends all went to the synagogue. They read the Old Testament. The first churches (communities of believers) were established after his 'death'.

They attended temple, minor difference but technically different. There were also a multitude of temples to the myriad of other gods. Many of which were reused by the christians, then the muslims, then the christians, etc.

The church of Jesus Christ was not established until after his ascension. What you are referring to is the Jewish faith, the synagogue, which is not the same as the Christian church.

They probably meant Christian Churchs.
Or they meant Jews have synagogues, others have shrines, temples, etc...
