All I can do as a parent is try to raise my children with respect and dignity. What they do with their academic achievements is up to them when they are adults. I try to steer them in the right direction, or more of an education, but in all reality I cannot force them into secondary school nor can I get them a job with / without their education. In the end, whether or not they need me, I'll always be here and I'm hoping once the bills start to pile up and they cannot pay them, that will be the day when they'll realize they need more in life and together I'll help them to achieve more.

It is a parents job to raise us with the life skills we need to be able to get out on our own. The values they instill in us growing up can make a huge difference in how successful we become in life. That is as far as it goes. Other than continuing love and support for us while we are making our way in the world. Other than that it is up to us as individuals to find our goals and achieve success in life. It is not their job to make us successful, that is something only we can do for ourselves.

The only thing I can think of to say is don't try to turn your children into mini me's doing what the parents dreamed of doing. The kids should be able to pick whatever they want to do in life not do what there parents dreamed of them to do.

Parents need to spend time, know their children deeply and really tap into what a child's talent is. Then, once discovered they need to encourage and to bless that child and set that child on the right path. It means a parent is always in tune with the child. When we become parents its no longer about us, but about the child.

Parents are guides, and the best thing they can do for their children is teach them how to make good decisions!
