Sure. Sugarless only though. We actually recommend that our patients chew gum after adjustments because it helps work the pressure out, so they're not as sore.

I chewed gum while I wore braces. Although those gums that say they don't stick to dental work doesn't necessarily mean it won't stick to braces. By dental work it usually mean caps, veneers, bridges, etc.
The braces are cemented pretty strongly to the teeth so it takes a lot to pull them off but if you let your kid chew gum, make sure that they have good brushing habits so they can brush away any gum particles that may have gotten stuck on the braces. Small pieces of gum will eventually dissolve over a few days anyway.

Sure, as long as it's sugar free. My sister had braces for about 3 years and chewed gum the entire time. Continue to avoid anything that will actively stick to the braces, though, like Starburst.

I wore braces for 6 years when I was a kid I was told stick free sugar free gum was the best to chew. But ask your kids orthodontist if he can chew gum. Some dentist are not ok with it but he/she can tell you if its ok with his type of braces.

i've had braces and chewed gum... i'd suggest two reasons not to do that:
1) once the gum gets soft enough, it can get stuck on the braces and its very difficult to get off.
2) its easy to break one of the little metal parts that holds the braces together. i once broke one of the parts and i ended up with a metal piece poking through my cheek.
he can chew gum if he wants to, but he probably will regret it later.

When i had braces I chewed gum,and had to get something repaired every time I went in.If your kid wants the braces off sooner my advice is to not chew gum.

Simply no! I am sure you are paying for the braces and would not like to start the process afresh and end up paying more. You would do well to educate the kid so that he grows up to be a responsible child and then a parent himself.

No cause it could get caught up in their braces. It's not a good idea.
