Ah, but it didn't. Despite the "we're more open-minded than those evil, oppressive Americans" rethoric of some Canadians... it's actually punished more severely in Canada than it is in parts of the U.S. (like San Francisco, where it's a Class C misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of only $135.00).
To be fair, this is partially because local governments have more power under the American system, but still...
The draft bill to legalize small amounts of marijuana possession was introduced by former Liberal PM Paul Martin, but he lost an election before it came to a vote. The Conservatives who replaced him have made it clear they want to toughen the drug laws, rather than loosen them.

Marijuana is not legalized in Canada. There are provisions made for medicinal purposes, by prescription, and carefully controlled.

It will never be legalize for stress use but you can get a prescription for medical reason's. If could doing it other wise will still face the same charges as anyway else. Get the facts before throwing things around.

It is decriminalized not legal, the difference being small amounts for personal use warrant a turn the other cheek policy or small fine. Not a felony charge.
