Funny you ask....I spilled my husband's ORANGE Gatorade on our carpet over the weekend. (New rule - no drinks in the family room, but husband's already disobeying me. :))
I took a huge bath towel, got it super wet with water and then soaked as much of it up that I could. Then I took a light colored towel (that I didn't care about) and used that to soak it up...that way I could see if it was clear or still had orange in the carpet. I just kept up the wet/dry method until the carpet looked normal.
I suppose it depends on the carpet, mine was burber (SP?).

Try Resolve Carpet Cleaner....if it can get printers ink out of carpet, Gatorade should be a walk in the park....

Water at first!
Then consider you might have to shampoo it a few times, now use hot water on the spot then wait then soak it up with a towel, go back with some foam cleaner then press down lightly soaking it up, you will need an old rag, don't rub it in it will get worse!

Oxiclean makes a spray that has worked wonders at our house on everything from spit-up to juice to over-zealous crayon usage.
Make sure you read the directions and don't use too much though. If you oversaturate, its hard to get it all out.

Oxy clean, Resolve, Spot Shout.
I wouldn't use hot water as heat sets stains.

Soap and water! Gaterode will not stain. It's all artificial and mostly water. It's only colored because of an additive. Don't buy anything expensive, good ol soap and water should take it right out.
