The acronym of BDSM actually represents several subcategories, though, BDSM in itself mainly is represented by the three categories that make up the acronym (yes, three). These are...... bondage/discipline (BD)..... Dominance and submission (DS)..... and sadism/masochism (SM). I'll give you a short answer based on each of these. Please note that many of these categories will overlap in certain cases.

Bondage/discipline - Most forms of BDSM play will fall into this category, at least a little. If it's about tying someone up or keeping them in line, this is where it falls. This includes disciplinary relationship, which might also include aspects of the next two.

Dominance/submission - This is control and power exchange. One party gives over partial (and sometimes almost total) control of their lives to another person. The ;most extreme of this is the Master/slave lifestyle.

Sadism/masochism - This is the practice of giving and receiving pain for pleasurable purposes. In most cases, the pleasure comes from either a sexual connection with the pain, or the endorphin release triggered by intense pain.

There are myriads of ways to practice one or more of these categories. While I am Dominant, my personal fave is to have an attractive young lady across my knees for a spanking. It's all good fun. ;)

bdsm...it covers a lot of topics. I assume by your last comment, it probably isn't something for you. :) The letters themselves stand for B-bondage, D-discipline, D(again)-dominance, S-submission, S(again) Sadism, and M-masochism. And yeah, to some people it's only a game in the bedroom...bondage and pain and control...to others it's just a way of life. There are many many people in this lifestyle that I'm sure you know personally. They may not be open about it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Not everyone into this wears a collar around, gets slapped around in public, or ever addresses someone as Sir or Ma'am. The bondage and discipline aspect are pretty easy to explain...bondage as in being restrained by rope or chain or whatever other means. Dominance and submission can be skimmed on as a power exchange...someone enjoys being controlled and the other enjoys controlling. This can be only in the bedroom or it can be in everyday life as well. Sadism and Masochism is completely about pain. A sadist enjoyed giving pain to someone whether it be a spanking or whatever floats their boat. :) A masochist enjoys receiving pain.
If you have an open mind and would like to find out more...I think a great website for people with little or no knowledge is www.castlerealm.com. It's all articles...and no porn, which is nice. :)
Hope this maybe cleared things up. Don't be too quick to say ewww and judge however..it can be a great thing if done well between two consensual adults.

perverts? it's because of people like you i can't come out and have to use www.twistedtrance.com
If people were more open to this kind of thing people wouldn't have to look for dommes on websites like this.
I think if you took the time to understand bdsm and maybe tries a mild version of it you might even find it enjoyable.

Wow, now that is a question that cannot be answered easily in this format.
In short, it stands for Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, and Sadism & Masochism.
It’s a pleasure-and-pain game played by two (or more) CONSENTING ADULTS that can involve any or all of the following: bondage (tie up games), spanking, whipping, flogging, blindfolds, handcuffs, ropes, fetishism, mind-games, etc.
Think of it as “kinky sex on speed”.
It’s a very enveloping and in-depth topic, and entire websites and communities are set up discussing exactly this question, as there are as many answers as there are people doing it.

Bondage, Domination, Sadisim, Masochisim. Is a world of individual fetishes ranging from the mild to the extreme. A safe word is used to prevent things from going too far, but the key element here CONSENSUAL The mantra " SANE CONSENSUAL" is strictly adhered to. Fetishes range from blindfolds and tickling to complete slavery. Try doing a lil web research or even finding a group nearby. I'm sure someone would be glad to answer more particular questions.

It's adding pain to pleasure, basically. Some people find pain to be sexually stimulating, and get off on being tied up, whipped, having hot wax poured over them etc etc. As long as you and your partner are 100% comfortable with it go for it. But remember the most important thing is to have an escape word, so that if there is too much pain you can say the word and stop.

Many good answers above. Also you can watch the film "Secretary" for further insight, which many "vanilla" women totally loved, BTW.
