anyone know how to convert a tape from VHS NTSC or VHS SECAM to something viewable at home (DVD?). I want to buy some old olympics footage, but it is only available in VHS NTSC/SECAM. Also, any idea of cost?

It's probably copy protected and copyrighted, so you won't be able to have a video service transfer it to DVD -- you'll have to do it yourself.

You'll need a VCR, a DVD recorder, and a video enhancer to eliminate the copy protection from the tape. Even with a cheap VCR and DVD recorder, you're probably looking at $200-$300 minimum. Since the video enhancer goes between the VCR and DVD recorder, you can't use an all-in-one system.
