If your parents will let you, It would be cool to do a collage wall with posters, pictures and all the things you have in common that you both think is cool. Cover the whole wall. They make sticky stuff that will hold up photos, posters, and news clippings. This is better than tacks because it does not damage the walls.
Sounds fun, Hope you get some really good answers that work for you.

If you can agree on a basic color for the walls or 2 colors that work well together, I suggest that you can each personalize your side of the room. Have one wall dedicated to your favorite things and one dedicated to his. From sports memoribilia to music to collections.

Your bedspreads can be different themes but it would look the best if the background color went with your wall colors or was the same.

I suggest you find a wall color you both agree on and like. After you paint the walls, you can kind of divide the room in half. You decorate your half, and he decorates his half.
I don't know if you will like it, but I really like the masculine combinations of grayish blue for walls and black for furniture and accessories, with accents in blue or red, and navy curtains. But that might make the room seem kind of cold.
A warmer theme would be tan for the walls and black and red curtains and accessories.
Good luck!
