okay i'm sorry i hate to say this. but obesity has nothing to do with genetics. maybe she's fat because her parents feed and give her a lot of food, but its not genetics. so never blame it on genetics... sorry to break it 2 u!!!!!! but its true.

I guess this is a matter of opinion, but I think that people are limited to a certain point by genetics in that it makes it more difficult for the weight to come off, but certainly there is nothing that would prevent them from getting below a certain weight. They'd just have to work harder at it than some other people. Sounds like she might be a little lazy and making excuses.

Genetically overweight is another excuse for people to be overweight without being responsible for it. Losing weight is all about proper diet and exercise. It is simple as that. Your friend may not have much of a choice if her parents are not concerned with this. They may bring food into the home and not be concerned about nutrition. She can try to limit what she eats. It takes a lot of determination and sacrifice to lose weight and keep on a healthy diet. Good luck to her.

Anyone can loose weight, it's a simple equation, if you spend more calories than you consume, you will loose weight. It can be much harder for some people, this is true - and that often does have something to do with genetics, but it more often has to do with a lack of exercise and an overabundance of food.

No, there is no such thing as genetically overweight. some people just have a slower metabolism. but with a healthy diet and exercise everyone can lose weight, it's an excuse

maybe not "thin", but slim. but it may require a lot more effort for your friend than it does with normal people.
and believe me- there is nothing called "genetically overweight".
you might have a tyroid problem, you might have a slow metabolism, you might tend to eat more- genetically. but these are no reasons to be overweight.
i was like that- my tyroids was like...not working, my metabolic rate was so low that could only burn 900 cals per day at age 13.
but im not fat. and i thik that im on the thin side.
cuz now i eat right and exercise.
but still, do not be harsh on your friend as over eating and problems like that are indeed mental problems.
so do not push her. if she doesnt oush herself, that measn that she doesnt want to do it.
