Some cats drool when being stroked and some also dribble. It does not necessarily show any problems

Hi there...a cat that has begun to drool this may be indicative of something more serious. Cats who suddenly develop drooling may be a result of either periodontal disease, accidental ingestion of toxins, kidney, respiratory or liver disease to diabetes, skin disease (involving tissue around the lips) or oral trauma, such as electric cord injury. Please consider having the cat medically evaluated or notify someone who can capture the cat if it is a feral cat as some diseases such as kidney failure can be managed if caught early enough. Kidney failure or better known as chronic renal failure (CRF) is common among aging cats and is one of the leading causes of feline deaths.

I hate to say it but, if it hasn't had shots and has been outside it could be rabies. Squirrels, rats, mice, etc. carries rabies and if the cat got into a fight with a rabid one........
