NOT a lovebird. Lovebirds are very cage territorial, food territorial, toy territorial, and aggressive. Mixing species with lovebirds calls for trouble, especially since cockatiels are so docile, a lovebird could easily beat it up.
I second the suggestion for another cockatiel if you want to cage them together. However, you have to quarantine them, so you'll need a second cage anyway. Have them separated for at least 30 days or until you can get a clean bill of health from a certified avian vet before you even consider introducing them in the same room. If you skip this step, the new bird could easily transfer disease from its previous home/place/store to your current bird, and if you're not up to date on health records for that bird, too, it could be fatal!
If you want a lovebird, as in truly set on having one, know all there is to know about lovebirds and their temperaments and general behaviour and care needs, go for it. But never house them together. Your cockatiel will still have the company of another bird in a separate cage. When quarantine is over, they can see each other and chirp/call to each other (or even before it's over, they can hear each other in different rooms - lovebirds have a very high-pitched travelling call). It's also a bit difficult to house two birds together, of any species same or different (different is never advised, but you do what you will at your own risk) species, because there is the chance that they will not get along and/or may fight or beat up on one another, in which case you would need the second cage again to keep them separated.

No. They would attack eachother, which would lead to serious injuries if not death. Whenever you put a bird in a cage, that becomes their cage. They know that it is their home, like their own room. Whenever another bird gets on it, they get upset and will scream or even bite the bird. If you were to put a new bird in the cage after a few months, your first bird would instantly want to attack it. It is not at all safe to put 2 birds in the same cage unless they're mates, or have grown up together and are used to eachother. It is generally not safe either to have different species together, especially ones that could have an advantage over the smaller one.

You could probably put them together but probably not at first. Try getting a separate cage for the love bird. Try setting the cages next together and after a week or two try putting them together. You would have to watch them and make sure one bird doesn't pick on the other and if they do try just putting the cages next to each other.

Don't put love bird with your cockateil Loveirds are quite agreessive and have rather large beaks. You coudl en up with a vey injured cockateil.
I would suggest another cocakteil to be safest. Budgies and cocakteils can get aong well but I'd still be worried keeping them in teh same cage.
Good luck

I wouldn't. Lovebirds can be aggressive little guys. Additionally, birds are very territorial over their cages; if you want them to bond, you could try putting them on the same play-stand together but make sure you're supervising their play.
Good luck!

I heard that lovebirds can attack other birds but mine are fine.
I have cockatiels, budgies, kakarikis and quails in an aviary, they all get on really well. (One of my lovebirds was preening a budgie the other day.)
But it is best to get another cockatiel friend just on the safe side
