My boyfriend and my older brother are competing against each other in a fencing contest, and I'm in a quandary because I don't know who to root for. I already promised that I'd be there, so I can't not go.

Well i would go for the winning team but i would also think about how much you like your brother and your boyfriend if you like your brother more i would go for him...but if you like your boyfriend a whole lot i would root for him because your brother would always be there and your boyfriend may not be

Congratulate the winner and console the loser. Make your brother and b/f be good sports about it also. Usually it is never good to root against the family. B/Fs come and go, but family is a permanent bond.

If you must root for them then root for both of them. I would think they would both find it humorous. It could be a great time. If they have insecurity issues then that is on them. well its a sport and i have more than one favorite teams and they should be fairly close being brother of his girl then just go sit and clap say nothing just clap and they both should be happy a good shot is a good shot PERIOD
