They probably hate their job. If their job turns them into mean, scary people they should consider a new career.

I've had that happen to me too. Sometimes, they simply don't have time to wait for you. They have a schedule to follow, and if they don't, then they get yelled at and get complaints.
Usually when the door is closed its because their just about to get on their way. Some bus drivers will take a moment to open the door and let you in though.
I've never had a bus driver close the door right in my face though. They have however seen me running to catch the bus and simply closed the door and continued on their merry way. It really only use to bug me when the bus showed up early.

I don't think weather has anything to do with their manners. I rode the buses in NYC and had never had bad experience with the drivers, or in Philladelphia. I'm from Taiwan, and I've had some unpleasant experiences. On a few occasions I had to wait for about 30 miuntes for a bus, but then THREE empty busses flew by tbe stop!!! And they can be mean to the old people!!! My father got hurt because a driver wouldn't wait for him to get on before taking off!!! Now THAT is rude, I think.

If the bus door has closed, chances are you were late. You've noone to blame but yourself. Drivers have a schedule to keep, if he'd have opened up for you you'd have probably put him a good 10 seconds behind... if that happened at every stop his timetable would be screwed.
Plus it's often quite dangerous to be diverting a bus driver's attention from the road because you didn't get to the stop on time. They will have been instructed not to open up when closed for plenty of good reasons. Rather than get pissed off, you'd be better accepting that it was probably your fault, and that chances are there will be another along in a minute, so it's not really that big a deal. It's certainly not personal.

I used to be a bus driver so I can tell you that it is a very stressful job. However there is no excuse for acting the way you described. I don't think I was ever guilty of that. The drivers have a time to keep to and if they are late it means they cannot stretch their legs or have a 3 minute break at the end of each journey. Believe me after driving along the A6 Stockport road from Hazel Grove to Manchester Piccadilly one needs to wind down after each journey.

This is for if u live in England. I don't know about anywhere else. My sibling told me that the bus drivers were disgrunted men for to be a cab driver u have to take some kind of test about England. If u don't pass this test u can't be a cab driver. That's what my older sibling told me. For America I weren't know for I've never riddin in a city bus in America yet.

It has to do with the person he/she is. I had a few brush-ins with mean/rude bus drivers but that is not as many as the nice and helpful ones I've encountered. Perhaps such people feel that they're untouchable because they have union backing. Better luck next time. Cheers.

Get the bus number (on the outside of the bus) and call to complain. No one has the right to treat you that way; you're still a human being for gods sake!

Human nature to "look down" on someone who is less fortunate. Also, it's like a fat kid in a candy store...who's to stop them? Let's start complaing to the right people. Nothing will change until we take a stand
