1: if you can put it somewhere the dog cant go, it is probably the easiest way. 2: At your local pet store pick up some stuff called bitter apples and spray the bag with it. 3: if all else fails, get red chili powder and mix it with water and a little veg oil, spray this on the bag. But 1 is probably the cheapest and easiest way to prevent pup from playing with the garbage.

Get A Metal Garbage Can With A Heavy Metal Lid Or Keep You Garbage Out In The Garage Or Under The Sink Or In A Pantry...Or You Could Just Not Leave Your Garbage In A Bag Where Your Dog Can Get It. Or Just Take It Out On A Regular Basis!!!

"If your dog is regularly stealing or scavenging food, it's not his problem, it's yours. You have to manage your environment so that the dog does not get the chance to eat what you don't want him to." "Put food away. Lock your can in a cupboard or choose a can can only be opened with a catch. Make it easy for your dog to succeed. And never, ever punish or correct him when you come into the room and discover he has polished off the pasta. He won't have the first idea what you are punishing him for. By now the pasta is long gone." "If the snatching took place behind your back, however, there is nothing you can do in the way of punishment or correction. You can only correct a dog effectively within one second of the wrong or undesired behavior." I think you should also see how much you are feeding him - like how many times a day and how much. If the way and amount your feed him is fine he could just be a little glutton, or he may have an actual medical issue. I think that he could just be a glutton or curious - I mean to him it's not trash, it's a huge bowl type thing that smells good with people food in it.

Get a good trash can and thicker bags, i work with animals daily, remember she's going to smell it and having her in the house won't stop it. I also suggest keeping some food there even a little bit from her moring food so she isn't hungry. Also a good can where you have to press on the bottom lever will help, remember dog's don't realize how to open certain things, and if you have a can like this maybe it's time to get a new one.
It will pay for it's self I assure you with medical bills from eating garbage will cost a pretty penny and medications to wear off bacteria from the trash can. Expecailly Ecoli can dog sever damage.

If you have an attached garage, put your garbage in the garage and close the door so your dog can't get at it. My mom finally did this with ours and it worked. Or put it in a closet with the door closed when you leave the house. Other people I know have put the garbage in closests or under the sink and closed the door. Just make sure it isn't the kind of thing the dog can easily open.

1. Move the garbage out of reach.
2. Take the garbage out before you leave for the day when there is something your dog may want in it.

I have dealt with that problem for years. Here are some of the things I have done: Crate the dog when you are not home, put trash under sink with a child lock on the door, keep the good stuff separate such as chicken bones, but the best if you can afford it, is buy a trash compactor.

Get a garbage can with a locking lid. That's what I did. I also poured vinegar over the garbage. That worked too but smelled bad.

Maybe you should put the garbage container in your garage when you leave the house..Does she have a play toy? Leave her something to "chew" on..like rawhide bones or something of that nature...If you don't have a garage move it to a room where you can close the door..so she can't get to it..Hope this helps you...
