When my husband finished the walls in our batthroom, he used mud or spackle and created a stucco effect..it has been a few years and is impossible to clean..plus it hurts if you lean against it. I don't want to have to replace the wall board, whats the best solution?? Thanks for your help

You can:
1. Wet it down repeatedly and then scrape it off. This won't work if it has been painted.

2. Sand or scrape off the sharp points. This is very messy and very time consuming.

3. Spread a coat or two of joint compound over the top to fill in the "low" spot thus eliminating the high spots.

4. Start over with new drywall, by either tear out and replacement or by using thin (1/4 or 3/8) sheets attached through the existing drywall.

Good luck.

I'd sand it down some at least to remove the sharp edges.
