Last Thursday, I was doing my triceps. I did Close Grip Bench, then Skull crushers.......everything went well, then I got on to do my dips and at the third set, I pushed as hard as I could and my head started hurting alot. I got off and had the only headache. I didn't even finish my workout and I went home. So on friday, I do my biceps and when the weight got heavy, I got the headache again. Someone please tell me whats wrong with me?

Hmm...well, I know that this is probably obvious, but I am assuming you are drinking plenty of water while working out? The only thing that concerns me is that perhaps you have strained something or pinched a nerve. I had incredibly painful headaches that were to the point I could hear my pulse in my head and it was because I had vertebrae out of place in my spine and neck (the first few vertebrae at the base of my skull). I had begun to lose upper body strength and picked up a gallon of milk like it weighed 50 pounds! No joke. I know some people are very skeptical about chiropractors, but it was a chiropractor that helped me and got me back to feeling great. I would certainly keep tabs on what's going on; your body is smart and will definitely tell you if something is wrong!

This could be related to something vascular. It seems to only occur when you are straining? I was Hypertensive at 28. You may want to get your blood pressure checked to be on the safe side. I'm not saying that your going to stroke out but only that it's better to be safe than sorry.

you are prob. breathing wrong. breathing can make it so you are not getting enough oxygen to your brain. it can cause a nasty headache. don't hold your breath. breathe in through your nose and peirce your lips and blow the air out of your mouth.
i got nasty headaches when i worked out to the point where i got really worried. this is what my doctor suggested and it worked. he said you can end up passing out if your keep working out most people just call it quits and go home but those who work through it pass out.
good luck!

I asked this same question, becuase headaches were keeping me from working out, and at least 20 people said its because your dehydrated and you should drink a glass of water before working out, so I tried it, and it worked.. you shoudl try the same.

avoid the skullcrushers? lol just kidding always drink plenty of water keeping yourself hydrated when working out is very important. Also make sure you are breathing correctly~don't hold your breath it makes the blood rush to your head. Exhale when lifting inhale when lowering weight. good luck :)

You are probably dehydrated. You need more water. Also, maybe the weights are too heavy and you are straining yourself. You will build more muscles if you go down in weight and do more reps.
