the paternal grandmother had a stroke 4 yrs old and is paralyzed onthe right side of her body (65 yrs old). The grandfather and the girls were injured in a house fire on 12/26/06. They adopted the girls, but are now unable to PHYSICALLY care for the girls! Can I petition the courts for custody considerations. I have been in their lives for 3 yrs and they want to live with me. It's a long story. I just want what's best for my girls. Pls help and advise

the grandfather suffered 3rd degree burns over 50% of his body and is 68 yrs old. My 9 yrs old also sustained 3rd degree burns over 25% of her body. I only want what's best for my girls. The grandparents have done enough and need to rest. I am not being cold-hearted. Just the opposite. I want to step up to the plate and do what's right. It's a long story.

Yes you probably can if you are able to provide for the kids now. The children lives could be in danger if the grandparents are not able to physically care for them anymore.

Who are you? Are you related to them.
Both Grandparents are unable to care for them, or are they healing. To TAKE them away while they are physically down isn't quite fair. Wait...I just read for your girls...you must be a parent.
I would talk to the grandparents....see if you can do this with out going to court, if they are as bad off as you say, I am sure they will want what is best for the girls also.

best wishes
