I have used a lot of printers in my work and honestly the best make I have found is 'Canon', if you print a lot, dont choose a model with two cartridges for colour and black and white choose one with at least four colours, they last longer in my experience. The printer does not need to be the same make as your camera dont worry about that
Obviously if your concerned with the printer, you want to have nice clear prints, did you know that there are other things that effect how your photographs print out, let me give you some useful tips. If you buy cheap ink your colour will not be as good.
1. In your manual look up IMAGE SIZE, set the image size as high as possible on your camera, although you will be able to take less photos, they will be of high quality. This is the most important part of digital photography in my opinion.
2. Take advantage of your LED screen and look at your photos just after you have taken them, delete the bad ones and take as many as you can if it is an important photo, remember photographers spend a day photographing a subject and keep very few of the best at the end.
3. Your photo is made up of pixels, which is tiny dots, you rarely see these pixels unless you use a microscope in an image editing program. A printer will insist you have 300 dots per inch if he is doing professional work for you, if you have Adobe Photoshop you look up image size again, and you highlight the default number 72 dpi and change it to 300dpi. Don't worry if you don't have this option.
4. Go to properties in your printer settings and set the quality to as high as possible, this is also most important.
5. There are all different qualities of photo paper, Choosing a good quality paper means a better print out also. By all means try out different papers, if you want a recommendation buy ilford. Print a photo on glossy and matt paper and compare the difference, you will be suprised!
Good luck!

I love my Epson Stylus Photo RX620, available direct from Epson for $129.99. It's also an EXCELLENT flat bed scanner. I've owned one HP and one Canon and one other not worth mentioning prior to this and, although the others were supposed to be "photo" printers, there is little basis for comparison.
They have a new generation of "Ultra High Definition" printers that are supposed to blow MINE out of the water. All I can say is, they must be good if they are better than this one, as I am not interested in replacing it at all. They are showing 3 models - ALL for under $200!

You have two major companies that sell a very good photo printer.Epson and Canon. For Epson it is the Stylus Photo RX-620 and for the Canon it is the Pixma MP950.
