get a crate. be consistant and patient and praise when dog goes potty outside. unless you can directly observe the pup keep it in the crate. don't do this all the time, puppies are work. if you see the pup starting to, or is going potty in the house scoop the pup up and take them outside. say let's go potty on your way out. once outside put the pup down and repeat let's go potty. do not play or show any attention to the pup, just keep saying let's go potty. at first it may take 30-45 mins sometimes, especially if you know the pup needs to poop. when the pup does go potty praise the heck out of them once they're fninshed. then you can play with the puppy. be consistant and patient as this is a puppy and doesn't know anything until you teach them. good luck.

The crate is a very good training tool but never punish your puppy for accidents. It will only make him hide to do it. If you see him in the act scoop him up and take him out, other wise just clean it up and be more watchful.Take him out first thing in the morning, about 15 minutes after he eats, after naps, last thing at night and about 4:00 in the morning if he's a very young puppy. Each time you take him out say go potty or go out. When he pees or poops give him a treat and lots of praise. If he does nothing he gets nothing. I trained my puppy to ring a Christmas bell hanging from a ribbon on the door knob. Every time I'd take him out I'd hold a treat by the bell for him so he'd have to make it ring to get it now when he needs to go he rings this bell. Recently we stayed in a motel and I took his bell and he rang it there too. After he goes outside give him about 30 minutes of free play time but otherwise don't take your eyes off him till he gets the hang of it. My puppy was 9 weeks old when I got him and I took him out about every hour to start with. I've read that they can't really hold it till they're about 4 months old. To stop him from peeing in the same spots what I did was take an empty dish detergent bottle and put vinegar in it. When he pees on the carpet I put a dry cloth over the spot and ground my heel on it to blot it dry then I saturated the spot with vinegar and left it to dry naturally. He'd go back sometimes and smell there but he never went in the same spot twice. Hope this helps and hope you enjoy your new puppy.

Crate training is best for any dog. The dog won't want to mess up his home. It sounds mean, but if you think about it helps keep the dog from harm. Puppies are curious and get into things, if they are in a crate they can't do that.

When they get out of the crate, take them outside and give them a treat when he goes. After that, he can come inside and play while you are watching. After a bit of playtime, take him back outside treat him and put him back to bed. (the crate being the bed).

I did this with my dog and he is 4 now and won't sleep anywhere but his crate. We have tried to get rid of it but he just looks for it until we get it back out.

Good Luck

Crate training is the only way to go. I was against it at first but then got tired of cleanin up pee.

1. Put your puppy in his kennel/crate for one hour
2. Take him outside to where you want him to go and give him a few minutes.
3. If he goes praise him, call him a good puppy and have a party. Then allow him a half hour of supervised play in the hous ewith you.
4. If he does not go, put him in his kennel/crate for another half hour. Then take him outside again. Eventually he will go.

Repeat this until he knows where to go. Eventually he can be out of his crate for longer and longer periods and will tell you when he has to go by whining or going to the door.

Remember to praise him just as he is going. I said "go pee" everytime he did his thing and then "good pee" and lots of love when he was done. Now when I say "go pee" he knows where to go and automatically sniffs the ground and goes.

I trained my Rottweilier with this spray....I bought it from Petsmart its like scent of a dog because you know, they go to the bathroom from scents (wether thier own or other dog's) so we put that spray on a new paper in the yard and he started to go on it. After about 2 or 3 weeks he was fully trained but had a few accidents in the night (not alot). Make sure that you punish him/her if they do deficate or urinate in the house. Don't beat it but give them a light smack on the bum (lightly)

The best way is taking them outside as often as possible, and setting routine. When they wake up, outside, after they eat, outside, after playing for a little outside, etc. Then it's really all about praising them for a job well done. Don't run their nose in it if they have an accident, just immediately take them outside.

Have a specific spot for him to do his business. And a rolled up newspaper for when he does it elsewhere
