For some reason, people use serated blades for cutting bread.

You should use a deep bladed sharp plain blade.

Try it, the difference is a crumb-less cut and you'll never use a serated knife again,

no idea why they market serated blades as bread knives........i wonder if one year they had a surplus of meat knives and the idea stuck,

Not wishing to become a total bore on this.....but they don't shake out the crumbs or anything like that. Use a plain knife and you'll see its the same smooth cut that you get in a packet - no crumbs. If they cut it with a serated knife the sliced loaf would be fiberous, or rough textured, they are not. There are no crumbs to "shake out" if they use a wire or plain knive.

I'm going now, even i'm getting scared as to how interested i become in the most benine subjects......

All the crumbs of a ready cut loaf are on the cutting room floor instead of yours.

When the bread that you buy is sliced at the bakery, they use an electric saw (with several blades) that cuts it into uniform slices. It's like a multiple-blade jigsaw. There are crumbs, but they fall into a tray below the saw; then they slide the whole, cut loaf into a bag and sell it to you (they then "harvest" the breadcrumbs, and sell THOSE separately).

The answer is simple, when the cut the bread they dispose of the crumbs prior to bagging the bread.

Because they shake out and remove the crumbs before putting it in the bag :)

When the bread is cut at the bakery the bread is still Hot/warm when they put it though the slicer. Thus...NO CRUMBS
