Get a passport for his children without the mother knowing.?
Also If I got the children a passport each, and he tried to get them one would that stop him from getting one as i had already got them one? I'm in the UK.

0845 120 2948 Children's Legal Centre will give you the right sort of advice for free, you can also get them on the net at childrenslegalcentre.com.
Make sure you ask waht his rights are as the law has changed recently.
Good luck.

If he's not on the birth certificate he has no legal rights until a court says so. Therefore he cannot get passports. He would have to have your permission. If you're happy for the kids to have passports then you'll need to apply on their behalf but if you talk to each other then maybe you can share the costs. If you think he might try and snatch the kids then I wouldn't get them passports and I would get some legal advice quickly. Also inform the school of your concerns (and any child minders).

I don't know about the UK, but I imagine laws surrounding those circumstances are similar to those here inthe US.
In the US, only a parent or guardian with legal paperwork can obtain passports for minor children. The parent must be present with the child when applying for the passport, and must provide the issuing office with the child's birth certificate as well as the parent's own ID to prove their identity.
If a parent isn't on the BC, they can't prove relationship to the child. If they don't have stamped official court documents stating they are the child's guardian (in a case of no parents) they cannot prove relationship to the child. An adult needs to prove relationship and custodial rights to a child in order to apply for a passport.

if he isn't on the birth certificate then what right has he to the children? It isn't right for him to get a passport with out the mother's consent. Why would you allow him to get the children a passport? Without further details I can't offer much more. Other than I wouldn't let him leave the country with your children without you.

He could only do it by dodgy means, and i imagine it would be difficult. Its not that easy getting passports. All the paper work has to be just right. If he is not named on the children's birth certificates then i doubt he would be able to get them a passport legally. He could be any old person, couldnt he?
You sound as if you think he might be going to snatch the children out of the country. If you do think that, maybe you should seek legal advice.

No he has to get permission from you even for the child with his name on the birth certificate this is presuming you weren't married.
It's actually quite hard to get passports now so i don't think there would be a problem of them having more than one.
You have to have references from a professional person [doctor, teacher etc] they have to have known the child for a least 2 years and not be a relation, these get checked up on aswell.
My ex had to ask my permission to get passports for our children and we weren't married and they have his surname and his name is on their birth certificates.
Hope this helps.

Hey there,
In the UK, you can only do things like applying for a passport for your child if you have parental responsibility for them. If you and your ex were married, then he would have parental responsibility. If you weren't, and his name is not on the birth certificate, he does not have parental responsibility so he can't make decisions like that in relation to the children.

No I don't think he could... They would have to contact you because presumably you're the only adult on their birth certificate... If you got them a passport each then no, he definitely couldn't, they would have their names on file and do not give out duplicates! I suggest you get them passports and hide them away, that way he couldn't do anything about it xx

I'd think you'd have a problem, the kids birth certificates are required when applying. I expect only DNA tests to prove you are the father would give you proof
