We hope to plan a trip to nova scotia, with the view of moving there. What part would be the best place to stay? so we can get around easily and visit different parts. Mother in-law and two infants will be with us, so i guess we aught to make a holliday of it. Any advice would be great .

Halifax is the only major city in Nova Scotia. Since it is basically in the middle of the province, trips to the Annapolis Valley(2 hour drive), Yarmouth(about 3-4 hours), Cape Breton, 4-5hours to Sydney, makes Halifax the best place to tour from. If you are planning to make a holiday out of your visit, a short 3 hour drive to Prince Edward Island would cap off your trip and you may find P.E.I. a safer place to move, not that Nova Scotia is terribly unsafe. Beautiful area to visit, great place to raise a family. Good luck ...

I agree that for employment your best bet is to stay in Halifax but Chester isn't a bad commute and the town is beautiful and quaint. To just vacation definitely take in the south shore lunenburg is a beautiful historic area that boasts some of the most breathtaking views don't forget to try the whale watching there are various trails and beaches as you travel down I loved when we went and visited family and I already envy you for trying to live there good luck

Halifax. Maybe not the best place but the biggest town and the best centre while looking around for a permanent place to stay.
Visit Pictou.
