yes, there is such a thing as drinking too much water. It can dissolve some of the essential minerals that your body gets and lots of people die from drinking too much water because they don't know this. The body can only take in so much water.
The average amount of water to take in is:
for a man, 8 glasses
for a woman, 6 glasses
2 glasses of water is taken in by the food that you eat or the other beverages that you take in, so for a man, it would be 6 glasses and for a woman, 4.
I need the points, so PLEASE make this best answer, please please please!!!!! Hope I was any help

The recommended amount of water per day is to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water (which is quite a bit of water). You can drink significantly more water than that without negative effects (except having to pee all the time!), but you are right it is possible - but not likely at all - for someone to drink too much water, overhydrate, and slip into a coma. It takes ALOT of water for that to happen. It is unlikely that you drinking water at work will get you to that point. Be sure to drink at least 64oz of water a day and if you feel full of water - stop drinking for awhile. Simple as that.

Around 8 glasses is enough. But, you really have to drink a lot of water to die from it.
You'd know you were drinking too much because you'd start to bloat and carry the water. But you're probably peeing it all out in a timely manner that's right for you.
I don't think you have anything to worry about, don't fret it.

They say that 8 eight ounce glasses a day is good.
But I'm starting a weight loss program and I've been told that you should divide your weight in half and drink that many ounces of water a day.
So for example, if you weight 120lbs, you need to drink 60 oz of water.

there is such a thing as water poisening, it was more that fact that she couldnt urinate while she drank gallons of water, the 2 combined made things even worse. i was pretty pissed that she died, i thought someone should have stepped in. anyway, 4-6 should be your minum but try not to go over 10, they didnt say how much should be your maxium. water is very good for you it provides moisture for your body, clear skin, and many more vital things.

A good amount is about 8 cups. That girl died because she drank a lot all at once and didn't go to the bathroom.
