I have kissed other guys when I have been very drunk and as unbelievable as it seems I completely love my b/f. It has got to the stage that I know being drunk cannot justify my actions and the guilt is eating me up. If I tell him he will leave me for sure. I am older and should know better yet I have allowed this to happen a number of times. Mostly I have no real memory of the event - I feel so vile and yet if my b/f leaves me I cant live. I know I deserve the guilt and he deserves so much better. Any advice?

I am in my 30s and I have done this too often. Can I change my ways and be what he deserves - it feels like already I have betrayed too much. I agree with everyone re the drinking.

What do you mean you can't live??? Of course you can. If you are ashamed of your behavior when you are drunk, the logical thing is to stop drinking. Why are you doing things that don't make you feel proud of yourself? Quit focusing on your boyfriend and start focusing on yourself. Get your back up girl and be someone you are happy to be. Take responsibility for your actions. If you just tell him to clear your guilty concience, you are using him. If you love him, be the kind of woman you claim he deserves. That would be the best way to love him, wouldn't it?

Yes, you likely have a drinking problem. If you cannot remember the event, then likely you had a "blackout", which is a sign that your drinking has progressed to the point where it is out of control.
The fact that you feel "vile" shows to you that you have violated your own standards ... in other words when you are drunk you are so uninhibited that you give up your values. This is another sign that your drinking is out of control.
On the other hand, your feeling vile and guilty, and your regrets shows that you are willing to get help and know that you have a problem. I would suggest that you go and have a chemical dependency assessment. I suspect you will be given additional information that will show to you that you have a problem that will require some kind of treatment program. Meanwhile, go to a few AA meetings and if you know someone in recovery ask talk with them. But I doubt if you can get along with just AA meetings ... the blackouts are not a good sign.

Tell him and accept his decision. He will be mad, he might leave.
You need to also think that maybe you don't want to be with him. Alcohol doesn't make people do things it stops them from making good judgment calls, but does not cause them to do things they do not want to do.
Basically it enhances any given feeling that you are feeling when you are drunk. The drunker you are the more it is enhanced.

This is way too easy...STOP going out and getting drunk.
If you don't even remember these events, that's not a good sign. Might be time to sign up for AA.

You need to address your drinking problem, you are one of those poeple, that change when they drink. This does not make you a bad person, you just need to leave the booze alone.
