The average life span of a cockatiel is about 15 years.

Here's a site about determining age in cockatiels. Since you didn't specify what breed of cockatiel you have, I'll just let you click on the appropriate tab on the menu on the lefthand side.

Good luck. Hope this was helpful.

I've had my cockatiel for 16 years. Depending on what book you are reading the average age they live is anywhere between 10-20 years, although I saw a message once at a bird site about a cockatiel that was still alive at 32! If the cockatiel is very young--under a year-- it's beak and feet will be light-colored. When they mature the beak and feet turn a darker grayish color. After that there is no way to know.

Cockatiel lifespans in captivity are generally given as 15-20 years, though it is sometimes given as short as 12-15 years and there are anecdotes of cockatiels living as long as 30 years, the oldest reported being 36 years old when it died. Here's a site and good luck!
