Brown the sausage first, otherwise all the grease from the sausage will go onto your pizza, also if using mushroom ,brown them also, mushrooms contain a lot of water and your pizza will be water logged if you do not do this.
Saute' any toppings including peppers ,onions ,etc also.
Pizza's usually take about 20 minutes in the oven, that is not enough time to cook meats thoroughly.

you need to cook the sausage. You can take it out of the casing and brown it up like ground beef. or keep it whole and slice it like Pepperoni. It will only take a few minutes but you want to make sure its cooked first before you put it on your pizza. It will be less greasy for one.

I always cook toppings when making homemade pizza. The pizza would be very greasy if the meat isn't cooked and drained. The pizza is never in the oven long enough to fully cook meat if raw. I also lightly saute vegetables before adding to pizza. If you're using fully cooked meat you won't have to further cook it there will be enough heat applied to it when the pizza is cooked.

Ground sausage and hamburg should be thoroughly cooked, but not over cooked of course. Bologna, ham, hotdogs, pepperoni and salami can be just sliced before topping the pizza crust with them. If the sausage is in a link, I would boil them the required time, and then add them. I believe the instructions are: Bring water to a boil, add links, re-bring to a boil and then turn the burner off (or to simmer, especially if they had been frozen) and after 15 minutes, remove and dry with a paper towel. Instead of frying them further, as one might do, slice and add to pizza. Some links are precooked, so boiling is unnecessary.
Vegetables are often sauteed before adding. I do not saute the vegetables, but I do slice them or chop them rather thin or small.

Yes, cook the sausage before putting on the pizza. I cook an entire sausage link in a pan, then slice the sausage thinly. Then I have sausage "discs" that resemble pepperoni.
Home-cooked pizzas are not hot enough to cook the sausage on-top of the pizza.

Of course you have to do that. However, take a skillet.Pour some olive oil, garlic ( fine chopped) some chopped onion and some chopped red-bell-pepper.Saute the staff in medium heat with the sausage ( cut it in pieces). When is done ( medium-golden brown. Is ready. The,add the sausage to the pizza.By the way, when you cook the sausage the smell is so great that everbody can be crazy.Open the windows and drive neighbors crazy too.

Yes, cook it first. Any meat such as sausage, hamburger need to be browned in pan first. Peperoni's can be put directly on pizza without cooking.

Yes. You can drain the grease before you put it on the crust. It is hard to "overcook" ground sausage. But it is really easy to undercook and take a healt risk.
