Can anyone tell me how much my boyfriend would be able to drink on a night out then drive. He's a 24 yr old male (obv) about 5 ft 6 in with medium build?

Just in case I get any more lectures, the reason I'm asking is because I don't touch alcohol when I'm driving so decided to do a little research before persuading my bf otherwise!

Thanks for the usefull advce tho :)

Drinking is a no no after drinks. Not even one peg. This is because there is scientific evidence which shows that your reflexes work below par when you have alcohol in your system.Driving a vehicle on a highway with incredible speeds, it is millisecond reaction that matters. It is a matter of pleasure. Drinking in moderation is a pleasure and is recommended medically too. But when it comes to driving it is not recommended. If 4 people are going to a party decide before hand one person who needs to be bone sober. It can be done in turns.

It is never safe to drink and drive. Ask my friend, OH that's right you can't. The car she was riding in was hit by a drunk driver and she was decapitated (she was pregnant) her boy friend died and her brother has brain damage. You ask about the drunk driver let me tell you he was treated and released at the hospital. Of course both cars were totaled. This is how I base my opinion. I choose not to drink but I believe in a driver that drinks nothing or making arrangements to spend the night.

To blow a .08- it won't take very much one or two beers/glasses wine. I'd be lying to say I'm not guilty of it at times myself. But I have made a conscious effort to catch a ride or have my husband drop me off/ pick me up. The thing is, even if he has only had a single drink and is below intoxication levels- if someone hits him by accident- he will more than likely get the blame. Plus, I when we drink our judgment gets skewered, and one drink can easily become ten- I know!!!

gurl...let me tell u..if u want to go on a night out..the best thing for him to do is not drink. seriously..this has happened to me before..i drunk 1 beer and got pulled over for a seat belt and then gave me an alcohol test! so what u need is a designated driver! then ur BF can drink all he wants without having to worry about police pulling him over!

A designated driver is just that: designated to drink nothing but Coke and Coffee.
If you're both going to drink, stay home. We all appreciate it.

grow up!! for the safety of my family and my children, do us all a favor and do not drive after you have had a sip. you are putting your lives, my families lives, and others at stake. maybe you should ask someone that has lost a loved one due to a drunk driver how much he can drink and then drive. this is really a dumb question, really dumb!

bring on the thumbs down!

There's actually a chart that is compiled that you can use, it goes by gender and weight, and it tells you what alcohol blood level (on average.. everyone is slightly different) you will be if you drink a certain amount in a certain amount of time. It tells you what is considered "one drink" on the chart too.

Try this link for example: http://www.barnard.edu/asap/bal.html

0.0 oz - really there is no safe limit for drinking and driving- if you want to drink together and can't find a designated driver use a Taxi - the life you save may be your own.

Drinking and driving sucks! I am on house arrest for doing it! got 3 months for my 2nd and Attorney costs in the thousands! Don't do it! think about insurance too.
Your boyfriend isn't much of one if he drives around drunk with you in the car.

its safe to say ONE drink an hour... howerver because hes a smaller guy after a long night he could be whammered. so ... driving after only ONE drink - an hour later - is reasonable ... but if ya'll decide to drink and drive be prepared to commit murder or suicide.
