Once wills have been 'read' they can be seen by anyone. Yes the solicitor will let his son see the original will which he might have if it was kept under the protection of the solicitor. If not try your local public records office where copies of all official wills are kept on record for anyone to view generally by appointment. If you live in England telephone The Public Records Office, Kew, Surrey and they will give you more information.

If you do not know who the solicitor was who dealt with the will then go to the probate office where it would have been proved . They will give you the relavant forms to fill in and you will get a copy for about £5. Having said that are you sure he left a will?

Once probate has been granted anyone can ask the probate office for a copy - there is a nominal fee of about £5.

when a will is filed it becomes a public document (unless it was legally blocked) and, therefore, is accessable. first, ask the lawyer for a copy
