Someone told me that a ring isn't required during a civil marriage? Should i get a ring when i propose? Or should i just get the rings for the civil ceremony? Or just save up for the big wedding day?

YES!!!! My husband proposed to me without a ring, so that is an okay way to do it. As a woman, we want the engagement ring to show others we are engaged. It is a woman thing, so don't try to understand :-) I didnt tell anyone I was engaged until he brought my ring also, but that was just me. It shows the woman that you are really serious about marrying her, and not just talkiing about it. We like that kind of sentimental thing!!

GET THE RING!!!! :-)

It is appropriate, although not required, to offer a woman an engagement ring when you propose marriage, regardless of the style or size of wedding ceremony you choose later on. There are very affordable rings out there, and the size of the stone is not as important as the sentiment.

Wedding rings are never a requirement, whether during a civil ceremony or a religious one, but a token of love and a sign of commitment. However, you should have rings. She will expect them. You can get very simple gold bands (or even silver bands, for that matter) at very low prices, and still be within the social norm.

I think you should wait and see if he does give it to you on the day when you have a civil service this summer and if he does not then don't tell him because he might be planning on giving you the ring with family celebration and or he might be still deciding on which ring to buy you. Proposal are a big step in every ones life and that person that has to propose needs to be ready mind, heart.body and soul till death do you part which is something huge. So don't get your hopes up that he will propose to you soon but if he does good luck to you both and congratulations in advance.

You could propose to her over a romantic dinner for two and then discuss the option of getting an engagement ring. When it comes to marriage most girls are quite old fashioned about this type of thing, so start off on the right foot and make it a special occasion when you do ask her. She may be happy to accept your proposal without the ring but if you discuss it together then she will know you are thinking of her too. Let her choose then you are off to a good start!!

You always need a ring when you propose. A solitaire stone. It has come into fashion to propose with out a ring & have her pick it out soon after though.

You need 3 rings and engagment ring for her , a wedding ring for her, & a wedding ring for him. Some civil ceremony don't do wedding rings so call to ask first.

No ring is required, that should be for an engagement. If it is going to be a civil wedding, just a band is fine. Save up for the big wedding day? Do you plan on having a huge reception?

You don't need a ring for the ceremony, but for emotional value get the rings. Put it on her finger during the ceremony or later. Rings are a sign to others that you are married and dedicated to your spouse. The engagement ring is a promise to marry. If you can afford it get one if not discuss it and get one on a special anniversary. Just be sure to discuss it with your bride!

You could offer a "place holder" ring to propose with, then go with her to pick out a proper ring.

Altough rings are not part of the legal part, so they aren't necissary.

Get her a ring. She'll love it. Doesn't have to be expensive because it's the thought behind it that counts.
