1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because Greater is he that is in you , than he that is in the world.
John 8:23 ( which I am sure will be used) ...Jesus said, Ye are from beneath, I am from above, Ye are of this world; I am not of this world This verse is not talking about the WORLDLY But the physical world, earth. Christ is Heavenly not from the earth.
James 4:4 ...Know ye not that the friendship of the world (sins) is enmity (enemy) with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world (sin) is the enemy of God.
Romans 12:2 And be ye not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
So in answer to your question NO a Christian can not be a part of the world. They can not serve Satan (sin) and God (righteousness) at the same time

SERIOUS FOR JESUS
John 17:1-26 Jesus prayed for his followers that are no part of this world.
A married woman that is obedient to the WORD, must participate in some portions
of world matters for the sake of her family, but not be worldly. Single people do not have this obligation.
The strict followers of Jesus and the word take up their cross and follow him. John 18:36; They are no part of this world and family can dislike them. Matt.10:34-38;

Christians do sin. We read that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD." Being "of the world" means that a person is committing sin. He/she are seeking the things of the world over the things of GOD. We do not want to see a Christian in that position for very long, it is difficult for them to repent and come HOME to GOD then. I hope that this makes sense. Have a great week!

The bible says a man can't serve two masters. You can't cling to materialist desires and be a spiritual person. Someone should remind the Christian evangelical hypocrites of that fact.

I am sorry but a true Christian considers him/her self... not to be of this world. After all, it is God that gives the soul to the newborn, and the soul cannot be of this world, everything on this world lives and dies, your soul does not.

You would be a fence sitter. You would be presenting Christianity as just a religion instead of having a personal relationship with God.

No. The world is full of traps set by Satan. No one can avoid all of these traps because Satan is craftier than people. We have to walk with Christ and belong to him. He can lift us over the traps.

James says that makes us "Double minded".
Jesus says You can't serve both God and Money,one will hate the other.
That's sort of what Lot's problem was in Sodom.
