Yeah you should go. Do you know how may teenagers get kidnapped here on this Earth?

I'd say go for it .. obviously you're parents are concerned and would feel much comfortable knowing you can defend yourself once the class is over and it would most likely give them some sort of releif not having to worry about you as much .. plus you have nothing to lose and once you leave the class you'll be able to kick anyone's @$$ lol... your parents sound like mine they wanted me to do the same thing with my brothers except it was karate so I just went on ahead and did it its practically the same thing in some ways i went to a defense class with my aunt... its not all that bad its actually pretty fun .... good luck

Absolutely!!! Does not matter your size, or height. You will gain some advice, and will be able to defend yourself if there ever comes a time to. Thats a very thoughtful gift, and a very well thought out one as well. You should thank your family for thinking of you and your safety! Thats something all parents want for their children, but probably never thought of this kind of gift!
Go For It!!!

Yes, take the classes. You will be amazed at how much you will get out of them. Size means almost nothing when it comes to self defense other than smaller people can move faster than bigger ones.

I would go. Self defence classes can teach even the smallest weakest person tips to defend yourself. At 18, if you are in or going to college or like to be out at night, it's probably a good thing to know, so if need be you can defend yourself.

Don't you watch the news, there are girls being kidnapped right off of college campuses. Next thing you hear they are raped and found dead out in a field somewhere.

You're family is trying to protect you, and the classes are already paid for so JUST GO!!

When I was a freshman in college, I was attacked in a dorm stairwell. ( the elevator was out ) I later took self-defense classes with some of my dorm-mates and I learned a lot. Even if you are the smallest of them, you will still learn things to fight off your attacker.

You should go. I'm 5'4'', 110, and have been in martial arts for years. It has come in handy in Miami. You'll learn alot and it may save your life one day. You don't need alot of physical strength to save your life.

YES... for one thing... you get more freedom.

I had a mate smaller then you... more like 5 foot nothing... Who was very fiesty and the boys knew not to mess but she had lots of boy mates... Guys like fiesty fun girls who they can play rough or tease who wont get upset as makes sure guys to push it too much.

Also lots of rapists and real nasty types.

Besides its fun. You also get to be a better dancer.

oh and lots of potential boyfriends
