The 'old Testament' consists of the first thirty nine books of the Bible from Genesis to Malachi. The term "Hebrew Scriptures" is generally applied since they were written in that language. The books of the Hebrew Scriptures as they appear in most Bible versions may be divided into three sections (1) Historic,Genesis to Esther,17 books; (2)Poetic,Job to the Song of Solomon,5 books;(3)Prophetic,Isaiah to Malachi,17 books.
The importance of the Hebrew Scriptures cannot be overemphasized, for without their law code, history and prophecies, much in the Christian Greek Scriptures(New Testament) would be doubtful in meaning.
Without the Hebrew Scriptures we would be lacking many details about man's origin, the cause of death. We would not know many details about such things as the Noachian Flood,God's covenant with Abraham.
The New Testament or Christian Greek Scriptures consists of 27books.These were penned under inspiration after the death of Jesus by eight men.As the name suggests,26 of the 27 were written in the common Greek,Koine, the international language of the day.
As an integral part of the written Word of God,they contain four accounts of the ministry of God's only begotten son, including his origin, his teaching, his example, his sacrifical death, and his resurrection.
Together the 66 books of the Bible contain everything we need to know about our God,Jehovah, his son,Jesus Christ, what is required of us if we are to have any favor with God,what the future of mankind is and how it got there and many many wonderful truths are contained within its pages. It is truely a remarkable and valuable gift from our loving creator Jehovah God.

I would hope that you would take time to read alittle and see for yourself about the Old & New Testament.

The Old Testament is a collection of writings that tell the story of God's dealings with a particular people - the Jews - throughout history until about 400 BC. Then it stops.

The New Testament is a collection of writings that tell the story of the Messiah promised to the Jews (and to the whole world) since the creation. The Messiah is Jesus Christ.

Combined they form the complete record of inspired scripture.

The Jewish people who do not accept Christ obviously reject the New Testament. Some Christians do use the Old Testament. But most Christians understand that the Old Testament points to Jesus and is inspired by God and that the New Testament reveals the truths of the Old Testament.

But, again, I hope you would get a bible and do some reading of your own. The bible is the most wonderful book there is and I have read it through many many times. But it can be confusing and sometimes hard to understand.

If you want any links to bible study aids, etc. please email me!
god bless

Some believe that with Jesus (the New Testament) that the old testament is no longer valid. The old testament is the law, which points out how impossible it is to live a sinless life. Jesus is the thread through both and by true study can be seen and tied together. The new Testament is the fulfillment of the promises made in the old Testament with the coming of the Savior Jesus.

Some use the New Testament to basically say it does not matter what they do as long as they believe. But it is also said the faith without works is dead. We are not here to condemn but to love and guide....this does not mean to stand by and let what is wrong to go on but to address it. Jesus addressed things by making people think and giving choices....today people reject and and condemn and put down in the name of Jesus...to me this is using the model in the wrong manner.

The New Testement refers to the Christian Religion and genealogy of Jesus Christ.

The Old Testement refers to religion before the birth of Jesus Christ.

True Christians believe in Jesus Christ as their savior meaning he died on the cross so that all who believe will have forgiveness of their sins, the guidence of the Holy Spirit, and ever lasting life after death here on earth.

Non Christian believers for the most part do not believe in Jesus Christ and or simply believe that he was not a savior, therefor they do not believe in the New Testement and their fundamental beliefs are in accordance with the Old Testement.

The Old Testament told of the time God would send the Messiah into the world to save us from our sins. It gave the Jews ceremonies and laws to follow which were a symbol of what the Messiah would for us, the sin sacrifice is the most obvious.

When Jesus came He explained these things in a more perfect way, and He fulfilled His role as our sinless sacrifice. Then the epistles explain more to us.

The old testimate is from before Jesus. In there it has books about the making of earth right up until Jesus and that is where the new testimate starts. Now back in the old testimate they had to sacrifice a lamb etc for there sins but when Jesus came he became that lamb and died for us that is why you will often hear Jesus also called the Lamb of God. I hope ive helped in some way

The Old Testament is Jewish law. The New Testament represents the Jewish "apocolyptic" cult that separated from rest, and became what we call Christianity.

And even though Jesus himself said that the end of the world would come within the lifetime of his disciples.... the fact that it DIDN'T happen hasn't phased its brainwashed practitioners. They just continue to find new ways to keep the cult alive, by "reinterpreting" their beliefs.

The Old Testament was about the man and the Law. The New Testament is about the woman and the church, though you wouldn't know it. You see, men are terribly wrathful because Jesus rejected a man, and chose a woman. Simple.

They are two parts of the Bible and must be used together.

The Old Testament is the prophesy of what will be revealed in the New Testament. The New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophesies.
