Frankly most people are not curious..... they simply go along with what they are told, and it works for them. I think that this is a consequence of childhood development. When a child reaches a certain age they begin to question everything..... They tend to aim their questions at the person they believe has legitimate answers (their parents). Most parents either find this behavior annoying, and treat it as such, teaching the child that questions are bad. Otherwise they are unsure of the answer and make up things that will be passable to their children. Sort of like when a parent tells a child that lightning is the sound of angels bowling, or that a rainbow is some pact with God as opposed to static electrical discharge and light refraction. Eventually the child grows up and realizes that these explanations where fictitious, and learns that people shouldn't be trusted to give accurate answers.... making their questioning futile. So if you want to raise a brainless zombie, then teach your children that questions are bad. If you want to raise an intelligent adult then give them accurate answers, or failing that look up the answer together. In the age of the internet their is no excuse to just make something up as convenience..... tell your kids the truth.

People who are familiar with philosophical debate tend to be aware that some points are made for the sake of argument and discussion rather than as expressions of a personal viewpoint.

I know. Some people are asking just to get an opinion, and they get slammed. (I like the caveman commercials, too!)

Tommy:
Create a profile so we can get a general idea of who is asking the question. If we don't look, then we're at fault. If you don't disclose, we reach conclusions from the only information we have: your question.

thats just how people are. we form opinions based on what we see, hear, or read. that is why people get all caught up in people magazine and others. then they think they "actually" know those people. people are crazy!
