after all if you're gonna use the bible to say what is good or bad, you then would be in favor of selling your first daughter to slavery (Exodus 21:7-11) stone your brat son to death (Leviticus 20:9) killing anyone who works on a Saturday (Exodus 35:2) and to send anyone who ever played football to hell, because "touching a pig's skin is an abomination" (Lev.11:6-8). So if you're gonna say that homosexuality is bad because the bible says so, then you must also agree with the previous statements. And don't say that this are all in the old testament, because the one on homosexuality is in the old testament too... check your bible

You missed the section where it says they get to pick and choose which scriptures they think everyone should live by.

I am impressed you actualy have verse's. Lets look at Exodus. They bible has rules about treatment of slaves. Does that mean the Bible says its OK to have slaves? NO. It does not! But if you did have one it gave you rules to abide by. The Bible speaks of homosexuality in the NEW testament as well as the old. It is easy for you or me to pick our a single verse and post it up here and say LOOK LOOK your all wrong. When you read the Bible you must read the whole book and not just the lines that you like. Other wise we all could have slaves and kill people. But we all know that the Bible does NOT say those things are ok.

>>>the one on homosexuality is in the old testament too>>>

The "one on homosexuality" is also in the New Testament.

In other words, condemnations of homosexuality appear in BOTH Testaments.

Things like selling daughters into slavery, though, are endorsed by the Old Testament only.

They are superceded and replaced in the New Testament by edicts such as "parents, love your children lest they lose heart."

Obviously, parents who truly love their children are not going to sell them into slavery.

Nothing in the New Testament supercedes or replaces the Old Testament condemnations on homosexuality, though.

Quite the contrary -- the NT backs up and reaffirms the OT's condemnation of homosexual conduct.

That's the difference.

First off, I do consider the whole bible of benefit to Christians. There are many prophecies still to be fulfilled in the "Old Testament." However, the laws you mention were given to the Israelites. The Israelites were in a covenant relationship with God as his chosen people. Jesus sacrifice made the law covenant no longer valid. As Christians we follow Jesus command to "love your neighbor as yourself" Romans 13: 9, 10 explains it well: "The law code, 'You must not commit adultery, You must not murder, You must not steal, You must not covet, and whatever other commandment there is, is summed up in this word, namely, 'You must love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does not work evil to one's neighbor."

Christians were also told that homosexuality was wrong. Col. 6: 9 & 10 says "What do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God's Kingdom. Do not be mislead. Neither fornicators, nor idolters, nor adulterers, NOR MEN KEPT FOR UNNATURAL PURPOSES, NOR MEN WHO LIE WITH MEN, nor theives, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God's Kingdom."

As you will note there are many things that are equally wrong in God's eyes. vs. 11 goes on to say "but that is what some of you were, but you have been washed clean." So there is always the opportunity to put ones life in harmony with God's standards.

The Bible isn't professional gay. neither is it a call to hate the gay and to choose them...that's a function G*d reserves for himself. the variety of twisted apostacy which you accuse the "gay conspiracy theorists" is actual an analogous element that variety into executed to coach homosexuality into the main reviled "sin" interior the e book. there is an fairly sturdy and scholarly e book approximately this debate by a Catholic Priest that would desire to in all probability be enlightening. i'm which contain a hyperlink to the assessment.

Homosexual behavior is condemned in the New Testament also. I am not denying your references in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament Jesus offers a better way. Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets, not to condemn them or destroy them. The Ten Commandments are as valid today as they were the day God gave them to Moses. God's truth is eternal and God never goes back on his word. God offers us a better way to salvation through the shed blood of his Son. Sexual immorality is condemned regardless of the sexual orientation. Sin is sin. It is not the homosexual that God turns his back upon, it is the immoral sexual behavior that displeases him. God loves all of his children and wants to fellowship with each and every one of them, but only on his terms. He is the Creator and has the right to expect things done his way. Think of God as an employer---are you going to go to work and dictate to your boss how you are going to do your job today? Do so, and you'll be fired. God is no difference. Go your own way and make up your own rules and
God will break fellowship with you. You will not receive his blessing or protections and you will not grow spiritually. You will be open to all of the attacks of the devil. Sexual immorality is the devil's biggest weapon because it is flesh in its purest sense.

Well, since there are people noting that the NT has bans on Homosexuality, it should be noted also, that was not said by Jesus, that was said by Paul/Saul.

What I find amazing is how little Jesus himself is NOT quoted here (Y!A). I see lots of OT quotes and lots of Paul quotes, not a whole lot of Jesus. So it the OT laws are no longer in force and what Jesus said is, let's get some Jesus commentary.

I see you missed the point completely, Luis. That's no big surprise. Yes, God puts forth that you COULD put these judgements on people. But, the sacrifice of Christ offers us forgiveness so that we don't judge so harshly.

Homosexuality is wrong. But, it doesn't mean you can't change. God is offering you the opportunity to be set free of sexual sin. And it's not just homosexuals. Christ's love offers us freedom from being slave to our sexuality so that we can focus on serving God and loving one another.

Sexual purity is not about God denying you the right to have an orgasm. It's about waiting until you find that person which God has ordained to be your spouse and then being able to share your sexuality with that person freely; without the threat of disease, unwanted pregnancy or the jealousy of past lovers in your closet.

You highlight good points that show the need for a savior. Not enough time nor space here to attach the hundreds of other passages in the bible that address each of these passages and explains further. I for almost 50 years believed what you do....but it is much deeper than what you are trying to make it.....also none of us, I repeat none of us should hate homosexuals, but we should hate homosexuality....that is the hard part.

You are going to have to do better than that. We are living under a new covenant now since Jesus died for our sins. Nothing you say will make homosexuality OK according to the bible.

You are too true. But because you have said this, what result do you think you will get? Will they not say that it was for a different time and people - even after they tell you not to pick and choose. You have hit on something, and I am curious to know how it will progress.
