The Bible clearly states that there is a hell. Those that go there will be there for eternity. I believe everyone there will repent when they get there, but it will be too late then. God has given us a way to escape Hell now if we will just believe in His son Jesus and repent of our sins and ask Him to be the Lord of our lives.

No, that is why the Holy Bible is here to warn us about hell and how we can prevent ourselves from going there. By accepting Jesus into our hearts and believing He died and rose again, and repenting of our sins. Faith is believing in that which is unseen. If you went to hell first and realized that Jesus is Lord first, where would faith fit in that equation. There are no second chances, you either choose now in this lifetime or spend the rest of eternity in hell. By the way I am not being intolerant I am simply stating what I know to be true from what I have read in the bible.

There is a hell. And once, you're there it's too late. You can repent and feel remorse for not accepting the grace of God through Jesus Christ. But, you won't be set free. You'll suffer eternal death, which is seperation from God.

It's like cutting your head off. You can sit and think about it before you cut. But, once you cut the head off, it's a little late to decide it's a bad idea to cut your head off.

First of all, there IS a HELL, and those who aren't redeemed by obedience to God's salvation plan doom themselves to go there. It's mentioned HEAVILY throughout the Bible!

Second, Hell is set aside as an ETERNAL separation from God due to the SINFUL nature of those who end up there! One cannot repent in Hell! I'm reminded of the rich man parable when he "lifted up his eyes and saw Lazarus afar off in Abraham's bosom" and asked Abraham if he would "send Lazarus to dip his finger in some water and quench my thirst, for I am TORMENTED in this flame." Abraham replied "There is a great gulf (separation) fixed between thee and me so that neither can I cross over to you, nor you to me." There's more to the story, but you asked about release from Hell, so I'm going to use this portion of the story to show that there is no release from Hell simply because sinful nature puts us there and since "corruption CANNOT put on incorruption", there can be no release once you end up there.

There is a Hell.
No, there can be no repentence in Hell.
If you end up there, it is too late.
That is why it is so important to decide now
what you will do with Jesus Christ (God).....
either accept Him or reject Him.....
John 3: The Words of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh)
3. "Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
5. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
16. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

No, anyone could repent once they're in hell. To avoid it you'd have to repent before you know the true horror of it.

My understanding and belief is that at that point it is to late. During the rapture to come though, there will be those that were not believers that will repent and be saved while the rapture is going on. Others will remain to proud and will not be saved. I take this view from studying the Book of Revelations in the Bible.

I have only heard of people returning when they got as far as hells gates. You can cry out to Jesus at hells gates.

But once you're in hell there is nothing you can do but wait until judgment day.

To correct other answers. It is written in Revelation that death & hell will give up the dead in them to stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment. Death & hell is thrown into the lake of fire. So the first hell isn't everlasting. Those before judgment will be judged according to their works (conscience, landlaws, etc.) and those whose names aren't found in the books of life are thrown into the lake of fire, the second death. The second death is forever. It may be possible that peoples souls come to their senses in hell.

No, it is to late then. You must make your choice during your lifetime.

Then you would only be repenting because you found out how terrible it really is, and it would not be out of true love for God or by faith and belief in Jesus. It would be to serve yourself, not God.

If I were you I would find out from Jesus, who holds the keys and established the rules.

Why trust us mere humans for information that would affect you ending up there forever?

Here is what God's word says about it!

Luke 16:20-28
At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores

And longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried.

In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.

So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house,

For I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
