If you are at a loss as to what to do, ask someone who has done their taxes to show you how to get started. It isn't that complicated in most cases.
The IRS has line by line instructions for most schedules and forms. If you have a particular schedule or form that you need to do and want instructions, go to irs.gov and put "Form XXX" or whatever you need in the search engine and you should be able to view and print the instructions.

If you are single with no dependents (no one dependent on you for their complete support all year) you should fill out the 1040 ez. If you are married or have all types of other income such as interest income...etc you should use the 1040. It is very simple. Fill in your name and address, and especially your soc. sec. #. Put the amount you made in earned wages, the amount they took out for federal and state, subtract your exemptions (filing single amount and personal exemption) most young people that don't make that much the first few years of working. They usually zero out and get most if not all of what they paid to the IRS back. You can get a 1040 ez or regular 1040 at any post office or most public libraries if not on line. Also with the 1040 ez you can do your taxes over the phone. Which is really easy, all you have to do is answer the questions over the phone and your taxes are filed.

Call the IRS and get a "Package X." It has every form and every instruction printed by the IRS. There ought to be something good for you in there.

It's kind of hard to answer you when you don't say what schedule you're filling out.
There are instructions for all the schedules that can be downloaded at irs.gov. They typically have lots of examples.
Good luck.

You take your W-2's to the tax preparer since it's obvious you haven't a clue.
Good luck.
