God knows that man is weak and so sent his son in the flesh so we could not only see, touch, etc. him but also see that his commandments can be followed even by mortal men.

God came down to our level basically. He experienced the same things we do, living a life here on this earth. The main reason is because we are sinners, whether we like that or not. And the result of sin is death, because God is perfect and He can't have sin before Him. So, he came down in the form of a human and died for OUR sins, took our punishment. That's why all you have to do is believe Jesus died for your sins, and then you've got a clean slate. After that, you're able to go into God's presence, because He see's you through Jesus, and considers you righteous (in right standing, clean of sins). So, believe in Jesus = when you die you go to heaven and are able to live forever with Him.
Now the son part is true, Jesus is God's son. But Jesus is still God. There are 3 parts of God (Father, son and Holy Spirit) I know, sounds confusing. But it's like water being 3 parts (water, ice, vapor) They're different things, but still the same. Just another one of those fun things we'll be able to learn about when we get to heaven, God will show us that stuff. Yeah, I'M SO EXCITED!!!
Blessings, my friend :o)

I'm not offended, once you have been exposed to the truth in your heart in a real concrete way it is very difficult to subvert that belief.
Three divine persons in one God is a mystery of faith. It is impossible to explain a supernatural thing in natural ways.
For human beings to understand God it was necessary for Jesus to truly become man. an analogy of this could be said this way. If you were to approach an ant hill and your shadow were to cover it all what would the ant feel or think that you are. A great and huge being and something to fear and misunderstand unless you become an ant yourself.

The serious answer is that we cannot fully understand the mystery of the Trinity with our puny human minds. Try this, though: think of H20 (water). It is one substance, but there are three forms: solid, liquid, and gas. There is ONE God in three persons -- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. To learn more about the Christian understanding of the Triune God, follow the link to that section in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The poverty of language allows us to refer to sentient beings as either he or she. God is not an it, as an it is not regarded as a sentient being. Because the man is considered head of the household, God is referred to as a man because he is the head of the universe. God is, in fact neither male nor female as he is a sexless being. The SON of God is designated as such because he is the heir to the Father. The Son of God and the Holy Spirit (who is also sexless) are referred to as he against because of the poverty of language. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have always existed---they are eternal beings that were never created. This is beyond our understanding, only to say that they exist outside of the restrictions of time and space as we understand them. The Bible clearly states that celestial beings cannot marry or be given in marriage, and that when we are resurrected we shall become like them. Your question is not offensive, but is a sound one to ask.

To be closer and more approachable to us. To give us a model to live by. In a MASH episode called "Blood Brothers" the father says after somethings had happened that "for the first time I realized that God sent Jesus so that he may be here in each of us. What we do is for him not for us." Paraphrased.

It was God in the flesh.
God uses terms we understand.
So He gave His only begotten Son is a expression of His love.
Plus to defeat death that is Satan,
all things had to be put under Christ.
The Son inherited the kingdom.

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Satan had the power or right to accuse all of his same crime.
But those in Christ are free from the bondage of sin.
Free from the sentence of death.

You can just as easily see it the other way around and look at us having children being a great gift of God-like character.

The prophecies in the Bible spoke of Him.
:
2 Sam 7:12-14
And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
His throne was to be established forever, Only the King of Kings, Jesus has an eternal throne.
1 Kings 15:4
Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:
:
Ps 2:7
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
:
Ps 2:12
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
:
Isa 9:6-7
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
In verse 6 it calls Him a son, as well as Mighty God (El Gibor)
