Gerber Knives and I just got a new Winchester knife that seems to be a great one. It has a knife blade a gut hook and a saw blade.

I have as set of Buck lockblades. These knives are tough and hold an edge a long time. I can sharpen a Case much more quickly, but it loses its edge quickly too. For combat, I have Gerbers that cost more than Bucks.

As a Chef I personally use Wusthof and Henckel. However, its best to go to a store that sells knives and "try" them out. Ask if you can hold them and feel the weight and how the handle feels in your hand. Each knife is different as is every persons hand. What feels good to me, wont necessarily feel great to you! Good luck and enjoy!!

For value, fit and finish, and quality...Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT). I own three different models M16 EDC, M21, and M1. Check them out on Smokey Mountain Knifeworks, but they don't carry all of these models. You can find a large selection on ebay. The models with blades of AUS-8 steel are the best.
