Tell your mother that you will take complete responsibility for the care and feeding of your cat. Explain that you will clean the litter box and make sure that they cat does not cause any problems in the house. I’ve enclosed some reasons that you can use to explain to your mother why having a cat would be good for you.

Pets Can Improve Your Mood: For those who love animals, it’s virtually impossible to stay in a bad mood when a super-soft cat rubs up against your hand.

Pets Stave Off Loneliness and Provide Unconditional Love: Pets can be there for you in ways that people can’t. They can offer love and companionship, and can also enjoy comfortable silences, keep secrets and are excellent snugglers. And they could be the best antidote to loneliness.

Pets Can Reduce Stress—Sometimes More Than People: While we all know the power of talking about your problems with a good friend who’s also a good listener, recent research shows that spending time with a pet may be even better! Recent research shows that, when conducting a task that’s stressful, people actually experienced less stress when their pets were with them than when a supportive friend or even their spouse was present! (This may be partially due to the fact that pets don’t judge us; they just love us.)

Please keep in mind that a pet is a life long commentment.
That commentment doesn't stop when it's no longer a kitten.
Cats...if properly carried for....by that I mean, they have regular Vet care and are kept indoors at all times...can live to be will into their teens or early twenties.
That care can sometimes be very expensive.
You have food, Vet visits, shots, spay or neuter, litter box and litter.

If you can show your Mother that you are ready for that kind of commenment then tell her that.

If she agrees you'll have a lifelong loving friend in a cat.

Good luck!

Well, how old are you? Adopting a pet is a big responsibility. Are you responsible enough to clean the litter box every day? Who will pay for the food and supplies you kitty needs? Who will take the cat to the vet for checkups?

Maybe a Webkins pet would be better for you. And your mother.
