Yes take her. I take my boy chihuahua everywhere. I bought a small very pretty dog carrier( sorta like a purse), and I take him everywhere. He loves to go bye-bye. You may also want to buy a coat or get a blanket for your dog if you do take it out. They are very small and can get cold very easily, especially if they are short haired. I say if you keep her warm and get her a bag take her, because that is one of the best things about having a small dog. They can go everywhere with you very easily.

I asked the same question a couple of days ago . you see i was asked to leave a target store because of my 2 lb chi being in a carrier . They asked me to leave the store . so I just left the store and did not spend any money in their lousy store . They dont want to be pet friendly then they dont need my money . I know that wal mart tends to be a bit more leinent in that policy . so I say go ahead and try it . while you are there though do get a crate and crate train her . It does help and you can leave her at home in the meanwhile so that she does not get used to you taking her everywhere. There are some places they can absoloutley cannot go . I guess I was being inconsiderate in the fact that I did not realize that some people have allergys to dogs . so please sometimes re think your decisions. good luck to you.

Only service animals (guide dogs, etc) are alllowed in stores.
Please, get her a crate & use it. Give her a dog bed, turn the radio or TV on low & go run your errands. If you take her everywhere & keep her in your purse, you are going to create a neurotic dog you won't be able to deal with later.
While at Walmart, pick up some books on dog training: read, learn & apply. This IS a dog, not a toy or purse accessory.

Your dog will be fine left at home. SHe needs to be crated or confined to a small area where she can not get into anything that could hurt her. And that you can easily clean up any messes.
Learn to leave the dog at home she will need to learn that sometimes she is going to be left alone for short amounts of time but that you will come back.

Firstly, dogs are not allowed in stores for good reasons - there are laws against taking them in because of food and health concerns. Allergies are another problem for many people and you should be considerate enough not to expose them to your dog. Naturally, service dogs are allowed in, and they are the only exception to the rule.
Secondly, a puppy as young as yours should not be out in public at all until she has completed her full series of vaccinations. I'm sure you love her very much, and wouldn't want to expose her to any disease. Some diseases are fatal to puppies, who don't have immunity to them, and they are highly contagious. Someone with a sick dog could be in the store, and your puppy could contact bacteria just from contact with the floor or from your hands where you have touched the door.
Confine your puppy in the bathroom while you are out, or better yet, get her a crate.
Kate M - I want to congratulate you on a great change of attitude. I'm really pleased to see your consideration for other people. You have the makings of a really good and caring dog owner.

i used to put my dog in my purse or a small dog carrier and take her into walmart, malls. grocery stores no one has said anything to me. I've seen plenty of other people with their dogs also. As long as you aren't' letting your dog down on the ground running around you should be fine!!
enjoy you're new puppy!

i have a 3 lbs chihuahua and was walking through the walmart mall before christmas with her. SHe was in a bag/purse for dogs and you could barley see her head peaking out. A staff member came over to me and said i had to take her out..NO DOGS ALLOWED! I laughed at him and said you are not serious?? I told him i was not taking her out , she was no trouble and its the only way to do my shopping. He eventually left me alone so i could shop. The next time before i went i called the mall info line and asked them if i could take this tiny little quiet dog in a bag..they said i could and now i am waiting to see that same staff member so i can tell him he was wrong..lol
So my advise to you is call the store first..explain you cant do your shopping unless you take your harmless little dog in with you and he/she will be tucked away in your purse. They will probably say yes and then you can be prepared to let them know its ok when they tell you to leave.
Also a good thing to get your pup use to is a crate..then if there is someplace you cant take her with you she will be safe in there until you get home.
Good luck!

Legally, you can't take it in without them being liable for a number of things, mostly because they sell food and/or have a restaurant or two in the store.
If you guys need to go to wal-mart I suggest someone stays in the car with her, or lock her in the car with the car running, and go in and buy a CRATE first. That way, next time you go into town you can put her in the crate, and crate train her in the meantime.
If you are only going to be gone 3 hours or less (or one hour for every month of age she is), it might be best to lock her up in a bathroom or laundry room... something that doesn't have carpet and where you can easily take out the things she might destroy.

NO. You need to get a CRATE and CRATE the dog when you are not home. If found out, you will be asked to leave Wal-Mart. Besides, the dog has not been vaccinated and SHOULD NOT be out in public at this time.
