This means, in the eyes of ' a reasonable person' (a term used in courts), the employer has insured all aspects of health and safety in the work place have been put in place.

Therefore, the employer would not be to blame of a member of staff fell down the stairs because they were running, only if there was something on the stairs the employee had tripped over.

So basically, accidents and illnesses that an employer can prevent should be prevented, but they can't be responsible for everything. The employee has responsibilities too.

The employer can supply steel toe capped shoes where necessary(This would be reasonably practical), but it would be reasonably impractical to say put soft bouncy flooring down in case someone fell over!
