Do pickled onions/beetroot/gerkins etc, count as 1 of your recommended portions of fruit and veg!

beets count, and cucumbers count, so I wouldn't know why beetroot and gherkins wouldn't, but I'm not sure you'd want to eat a whole cup of pickled onions.

No, they should not be counted towards your 5 a day (you should shoot for even more than 5 a day!). Pickled veggies are high in sugar and salt and are not all that healthy. Fresh vegetables are best!

onions dont but gerkins and beetroot do, also pickled cauliflower.mmmm

All pickling does is change the flavor, but with cooking it, the vitamins might be diminished. However, they are still veggies and should still be good for you.

pickles are gross,there are loads of lovley fresh veg and fruit you can eat why dont you eat them!
