Suzanne i read your profile, I have friends that are really Jewish and not a Jew for Jesus, they have nothing but disgust for messianic Jews, as they are an insult to the true teachings of Judaism.

its not necessary to be married to become a rabbi we think he was a student to become a rabbi and you should know that the celibate vote was created after jesus by the church and jesus never refer to celibate as something he would do

Jesus was not a rabbi...he was CALLED rabbi by some as a sign of respect. Rabbi, of course, means "teacher". There were not rabbi's in the days of Jesus -- not in the sense of what rabbi's are today. The high priests and priestly class did the ruling. Jesus' time is referred to as biblical -- or ancient Judaism. Today's Judaism is called Rabbinic. Why the change? The high priest and priestly class -- Kohanim -- were not needed after the destruction of the temple in 70 AD.
Jesus wasn't married -- nor did he have children. Otherwise in today's world of starving for media attention and money, someone out there would be capitalizing on the fact that they are a direct descendant of Jesus.

It is very hard to be a Christian when people such as yourself say things such as you've mentioned. Obviously you haven't spoken to the right Jews nor have you asked the right questions to the right people. If you know a little about history you'll remember that the Jews back then didn't believe that Jesus was the Son of God. And they saw the many miracles he performed with their own eyes. So it's believable that today in 2007 their are many who still don't believe. And also Jesus did not come to get married and have a family but to save us. Know that he hears you even if you don't hear him. Ask Jesus to show you the truth believe and he will.

His disciples called him "Rabbi" in a reference as a teacher. However, you are right, the tradition of the time would require him to be married; and why wouldn't he be? Either Jesus was married on earth or he's a polygamist now with all his "wives" (doubt it). Jesus' parents were in an arranged marriage as costume dictates, you would think that Jesus would be under the same traditions; especially if he honored his mother and father.
It is very possible that Jesus was marry for many reason's

As a pious Jew of good family, it is obvious that Jesus must have been married at some point. The absence of any explicit mention of his wife is one of the mysteries of the new testament. Perhaps he started his preaching after becoming a widower, and since that's the only period described in any kind of detail in the gospels...
However, although his followers did call him "Rav" (Master, teacher), it is unlikely that he was a "rabbi" in the modern meaning, and as for his being gay, there is no sign of his ever having slept with man, which, as a pious Jew, he would never have endorsed.

Rabbi also meant "teacher". Jesus was not an official Rabbi, meaning he went to school and studied for it. He was a rabbi because he taught his disciples. By trade, he was a carpenter. And no Christian says he's gay. That's a lie told by others who hate Christ.

Because for Jesus to be a rabbi it would contradict everything they have been told to believe. It would mean he would have to have had sex, which, for most denominations would mean he is dirty and human. Besides, it doesn't say anywhere in the bible that he was married. Christians are afraid to look outside the box. Most don't know how to think for themselves.

1) It's completely untrue that one must be married in order to be a Rabbi.
2) Jesus never called Himself a Rabbi.
3) Jesus stated He was purposefully celebate.
Why do you take delight in making such accusations?
EDIT: You accuse me of lying, but you give absolutely NO proof. Your claim is based on your own misunderstanding of the requirements (both ancient AND current) to be a Rabbi. You've also applied a meaning to the word "Rabbi" that did not exist in Jesus' time; as others have tried to tell you, the official title of Rabbi (the head of a congregation) simply DID NOT EXIST. Look into this yourself, instead of parroting the anti-Christian propaganda you've obviously been taught. Or does it frighten you to consider the possibility that you're incorrect? A rabbi can be unmarried, They can not be the husband of more than one living wife, Now do you really want to see The Bride of Jesus, Read Rev.19:7 And his wife(BRIDE) hath made herself ready, & Rev.22:17 And the spirit & the Bride say Come------- So forget about Jesus being married while he walked this earth. He was just beginning to put his Bride together. Do you know that Jesus sits on the throne in Heaven as our Mediator & High Priest.

That's a first! How could the pastors have missed that all this time?!
Rabbi is the Hebrew rendering of "my master" or "my teacher". It is the title of a Jewish spiritual leader.
