If you mean can you get a tattoo while you are presently breastfeeding?? You can't give blood if you have recently had a tattoo, think about it....what possible reason would you need to get a tattoo now, it can't wait? I can see if you needed life saving surgery but a tattoo?

I contacted my doctor and the hospital lactation department...yes you are able to because the ink cells are too large to move anywhere into your bloodstream and such. You should - like always - look into the studio that you're going to and make sure they use all new needles and sterile procedures however. I would also contact your pedi for your own reassurance rather than taking it off of the net.

I don't think so. Risk of blood poisening, if the tattoo gets infected, which I think can harm baby too. Not worth it. You have the rest of your life to get a tattoo, but you won't have the rest of your life to give your baby the best start possible!

definatly not, the ink goes under the skin and also into the blood stream. which will transfer into the breast milk and into your child.i would advise not to get a tattoo until you have stopped breastfeeding.

I wouldn't if I were you as everything gets passed onto your baby. Wait until you've finished breastfeeding.

i had to have extra blood tests after my tattoo because i found out i was pregnant and i didnt know i was when i had it done. that should tell you theres a risk of you getting an infection which could then be passed on through your milk. best to ask your health visitor or doctor though.

You should ask your doctor first. Even if your doctor gives you the go ahead, a lot of tattoo artists wont tattoo you if you are.

is this your first tattoo? if so dont rush, wait till you are finished feeding the baby. a tattoo is not something to be rushed anyway. take your time do your research and then get it done.

you can but why would ya want to take the chance the place is unsanitary and get hepatitius or something and have it cross thru your milk thru your blood. I wouldnt want to risk it. I mean unless you see the guy take the needle out of the plastic wrapper.. then hopefully you wont get infection in the environement.india inks adn hennas put on at least ya can change and its an option

Sure you can. I would just make sure that the tattoo shop uses an autoclave to sterilise their instruments. I would do that regardless of nursing or not.
