why is it different when you translate from Japanese to English and bak to jap, the results are different?

i tried to translate だます(meaning to deceive), but when i translate it bak again, it says 欺く. Can anyone help?

Because languages are subtly different, and a straight translation is often not quite right, so that the expression used to render a term in language 1 may be in turn rendered differently when going back there. Backtranslation is a major headache with language students.

Notice, your first term is in kana. the second is a kanji, they may mean the same, just look different. another possibility is that "damasu" may have a meaning as "to deceive", but the main word used to mean that is different and that is what you got on backtranslation.

欺く still means "to deceive". Japanese is just like English and every other language on the face of the earth: there are more than one word to describe a situation while having the exact same meaning as all the other.

Besides, you're relying on an *online* translator (probably BabelFish at that). What else do you expect? Things to be correct?

Both mean the same. "欺く" sounds formal. In a casual conversation, I recommend to use "だます".
